Thanks so much for all the info on my favorite group of all time, Freddie & the Dreamers! Hope Freddie is well & still joking around!
I program an online oldies station that plays a LOT of British invasion music, thats what we call it here in America. Not just the hits either. For instance I play Freddie’s “Things I’d Like To Say”, “Don’t Make Me cry” & “Funny Over You”. Hope you’ll give it a try. you need Windows Media player ten, just click the link below.

I reckon I was born 40 years too late :p my parents were wise enough to bring me up on the beatles, the animals and gerry and the pacemakers…I think it’s the chord changes, that whole C-AM-G-F thing that tugs at the heart strings and makes everything so melancholy!! sometimes I listen to ‘I like it’ and burst out crying…don’t even get me started of ferry cross the mersey or don’t let the sun 😀 LOVE THE SITE!! Keep up the great work :D!

Hi folks, In a few weeks time I shall be publishing(myself) a Merseybeat novel called “Cradle of Rock” based on my experiences as a sax player(mediocre!) with the Delacardoes over 40 years ago. We were resident at the Cherokee Club, Bold Street, and at the C.I.(Catholic Institute), St Edward’s Old Boys, Sandfield Park. We also played at the Casbah, Blair Hall, The Odd Spot, Beat-Route, The Mandolin(later the Starline) etc. I am putting this book out with an alternative view of the Beatles – we thought the Beatles were the WORST group on Merseyside in 1961! The book describes the scene(and Liverpool) in detail – most has been swept away for ever! Cheers, Neil

I found your site after seeing a link from the www.45rpm.org.uk site.
It’s very good and wish you well with it, a couple of mersey memories for you:
i) a friend of mine is a prison officer in Liverpool prison and he met Tony Jackson (Searchers) in there whilst he was serving time a few years back!!
ii) my partner once worked behind the bar at the Iron Door
in Liverpoool in the 60’s.
I’ve just bought the book by Alistair Taylor “The Secret Beatles” – it’s worth a read, it dispells some of the Beatle rumours from someone who was there at the time.
good luck with the site

Hi Brian. You have a nice little site. I enjoyed the story about Freddie and the Dreamers. I have a web page on go-go dancing. In the next couple of updates we will show the Freddie dance in our Dance of the Month section. I bought a book today called British Beat 1960-1969 by Terry Rawlings. Have you seen it? I believe it came out last year. All the best.

Thanks for letting me know about your site. Its coming along very well and I enjoyed reading the articles. My favourite group are The Searchers (for me, the best group to come out of Liverpool after the Beatles) and in fact I co-ordinate The Searchers Official Website – check it out at www.the-searchers.co.uk. Best wishes. Wendy
